Your Love Matters, and So Does Your Gratitude!
Nov 27, 2025
Dear Parents,
Today is Thanksgiving holiday here in the US, and many of you are spending time with your family today, gathering with aunts and uncles and grandparents and cousins and children - including your own kiddos from difficult beginnings. For others, it's a regular old Thursday (which, for our families, means it's pretty far from "regular," right?)
Whether or not you celebrate this particular holiday, I want to encourage you to lean into gratitude today. Even if it's just for a minute, take the time to center yourself, breathe, regulate, and choose gratitude for the child(ren) you have, and for the journey of therapeutic parenting growth you've taken so far.
You might snap a little today, or feel impatient, or lose your regulation for a little while. That's alright. Don't blame or shame; think back on how far you've come! You have so much to be proud of. Every single day, you're getting that much closer to the peaceful, consistent, regulated therapeutic parent you'll be someday.
Be proud of your growth. Be thankful for it. Appreciate how far you've come, even if you have moments where you feel like you've never been farther away from the parent you wish you were.
And practice a little gratitude for your kids (yep, even when they're throwing a plate of green beans across the room!) Gratitude and regulation are close friends; being closer to one makes it easier to be closer to the other. After all, it's hard to feel too dysregulated when you're appreciating the blessing your little messy tornados really are.
You're a good parent. You're a great parent, in fact. And you're getting better and better, every passing day.
Remember: Just like your love matters, your gratitude matters, too. So don't forget to breathe, regulate, practice your loving-kindness, and embrace a little gratitude today.
Your Gratitude Matters,
Ce
