Small Touches That Mean Big Love

Dear Parents,

In praise of oxytocin... You know that feel good experience we get from being hugged, touched, massaged, kissed, held, and, yes, wrestled with? Let's hear it for healthy touch. Give your child the gift of an oxytocin lift...whoa, don't scare him with a surprise bear hug if he isn't a hugger. Start small with a smile and a back pat.

It's no wonder that hand shaking, high fiving, chest butting, and group hugging is integral to the enjoyment of playing a sport. Oxytocin, mixed with serotonin, dopamine, and adrenalin make sports and physically engaged activity a natural boost to wellness, attachment and joy.

Twister anyone?
