Raising Kids Everywhere: Unschooling Around the World with Sheryl Ang
Dec 15, 2025
Dear Parents,
Some conversations stay with you after the microphones are off.
My conversation with Sheryl Ang was one of those. She expanded my mind about schooling. Not that I hadn’t thought about it before… I just didn’t think anyone was really doing it.
Sheryl is raising her three children in a way most of us only daydream about on long, tired nights. Her family travels the globe together, letting cultures, languages, oceans, marketplaces, and mountains teach her children what textbooks could never capture. Worldschooling.
While most parents are wrestling lunchboxes and school bells, Sheryl’s kids are getting first hand learning about WWII, for example, across several countries. What?
That sounds cool, right? However, when you live without rigid structures, you have to build structure from the inside out. And that means one word: boundaries. Another word is values.
For children from difficult beginnings—those with early trauma, attachment breaches, sensory defensiveness, PTSD, fear-driven control patterns—boundaries are desperately needed and resisted. Sheryl’s signature boundaries course teaches parents a 4-step process to using boundaries that work, even when resistance is present.
Whether you are unschooling, homeschooling, nervous-system-schooling, or simply trying to bring more curiosity and connection into your home, Sheryl’s story will stretch your imagination and strengthen your resolve to be creative.
