Pissed Off

Oct 07, 2020

Dear Parent,

When your potty-trained child pees on you or the floor right in front of you, he is communicating the obvious--he's pissed off.  This is primal, regressive communication.

Ignore the pee.  Address the feelings.

You must be really mad.  It's okay to be angry.  Use your words. You are safe. You can tell me that you are angry.

Children from difficult beginnings do not always know why they are angry. They just are. Make it okay to be angry without a reason and the peeing will stop in fairly quick order.

Primal acts trigger primal feelings. Regulate before speaking a word.

Love matters,

Ce
