Daily Mindfulness Practice

Oct 09, 2023

Dear Parent,

I am always talking about mindfulness and breathing.  Here is a daily practice that is a good way to start your day.  This is in lieu of learning Yoga, Qigong, Zazen or Tai Chi in your spare time.  Ha!

Regular mindful breath practice will keep your memory sharp and maximize its effectiveness. It will create emotion regulation any time you take the time to do it.  Do it with your children for fun.  Everyone feels better.

  • Put your hands on your belly just above your innie or outie button.
  • Take one slow breath in through your mouth until you can feel your belly push your hands up.
  • Hold this position for a second or two.
  • Now just as slowly exhale through your nose until you feel your belly lower under your hands.
  • Repeat four times.  Easy peazy.

If you keep doing the same old thing, you will keep getting the same old thing. Breath practice works.  Why not try it today for a change.

Love matters and you matter, too.
